You are embarking on a beautiful new journey. As with any new quest the first step out the door can often be the most daunting. Yet, this is a grand adventure. There will be times of excitement, times of peace, times of peril, and times of fun. Of course, you will not be alone. A guide has been given to you in the form of Christ to show you the way. He will keep you from running ahead or lagging behind and He is the one that will make sure your path remains narrow in order that you don’t get lost. In this expedition, your guide has assigned you some traveling companions. They are not who you would have expected to take this type of trip with. Unequipped, and ill prepared, they have a little trepidation about taking a journey at all. In the beginning, they will need a- lot of support. However, wonderful gift of this walk together is that the longer you travel, the more they will learn, and grow and find ease in this trip. The wonderful thing is that one-day you will look over and realize that you truly are walking at the same pace.
This is the life of a missionary to the city. We walk out life on the streets realizing one day that those we have been “ministering” to are actually the ones that walk beside us. Isn’t that the goal? Reaching out, we are the hands and feet of Christ. Yet, our hope is that one day all those around us will also reach out to others in the same way.
